Another good reason to come to Canberra – Milkshakes to die for

I was in Canberra for the weekend and I couldn’t leave without trying the new crazy Out-of-control “Epic FreakShakes” that has been all over social media lately. In the heart of Canberra, Australia’s capital, is a small café called Pâtissez and it is famous for its Out-of-control Epic FreakShakes and desserts to die for. It also does amazing coffee.

If you are in Canberra then be sure to not miss it!

The “Epic FreakShakes” include selections like the “Muddy Pat”, which consists of hot chocolate fudge, brownies, cream, and toasted marshmallows. The “Nutty Pat”, which consists of a warm salted caramel shake with pecan pie topped with a cinnamon whipped cream.

Unfortunately there was minimal choice of milkshakes available that day however, it didn’t bother me. I was happy to try anything once. All they had left was the Fruity Freak, Cookies n Freaks and BanoFreak.

You need to be prepared to wait for at least an hour to get a table and a further 30 minute wait to receive your order, especially if you’re visiting on the weekend. This place gets busy and because they are a small café they don’t take phone bookings. Was it worth the wait you must be asking? YES!! The milkshakes are just huge and yummy and pretty filling.

If you’re counting calories, then you may want to dine someplace else. This is a sometimes food. You come and you enjoy the experience and tell your family and friends about it.

The French pastry chefs are Ismael and Astrid Toorawa. They are a husband and wife team and they make these amazing creations that will make you say “WOW”.

Pâtissez also do some interesting breakfast and lunch dishes–all with unusual names like “Cheeky” which are slow cooked beef cheeks, “The Field” which consists of Portobello mushrooms, poached eggs on a crusty bread with goats cheese and shaved truffle and toasted pinenuts. I tired “The Field” and it was delicious but only critique was the poached eggs were not runny at all.

The Fruity Freak

If it’s a hot day I would definitely opt for this shake. It’s made with 100% real fruit and tastes deliciously refreshing. It has a strawberry & lime gel and it’s topped up with rose scented whipped cream. The best part is a strawberry, watermelon & rose sorbet popslide, dipped in Lindt white chocolate & dusted with freeze-dried strawberries.

Cookies n Freaks

If your favorite choice of flavor is cookies and cream then this is the shake for you. It consists of a yummy choc fudge cookie shake topped with a white chocolate mousse & choc cookie sandwich…yummy. The jug lining has a super crunchy, Oreo- choc cookie crumb around it. This shake is pure indulgence from start to finish.
