Lunar New Year is an important event in the Chinese calendar. It is a festival celebrated to mark the beginning of the new year in the Chinese calendar. It is also known as the Spring Festival.
This year’s Chinese New year festival will be held in Sydney City, Haymarket from 6th February to 21 February. So make sure to add this cultural event to your calendar and come along and join in with the celebrations for the Chinese New Year festivities.

You cannot miss the annual Dragon Boat Races with 3,000 paddlers competing in one of the biggest boating competitions. The idea is that of a Chinese dragon in the shape of 12 metre long boats, each boat seating up to 20 paddlers, compete against each other to the sounds of drums beating!
